Finnish victory in the opening game

Finland wins the opening game against Norway. A late goal in overtime secures a Finnish victory against Norway.

After a sudden announcement on Thursday evening, the championship had to be moved fra Voldsløkka to Ullernbanen.

Finland’s number 61, Filip Svennas, hits the crossbar on a corner after 11 minutes. Norway became more active afterward, with several half-chances, especially a great opportunity alone with the goalkeeper by Anton Philippenko, an excellent save by the Finnish goalkeeper. However, it’s the Finns who score the championship’s first goal. Otto Huopalainen is the goal-scorer for Finland with a shot from 14 meters.

Nevertheless, Norway responds when Herman Sundheim, assisted by Henrik Tuseth, equalizes for Norway. It seemed like the match was going to end in a draw for a long time, but in injury time, Jonathan Hyttinen becomes the Finnish hero and makes it 2-1 to Finland.

Jonathan Hyttinen is named Finland’s best player. He initiated several attacks and displayed excellent technique. He never lost possession of the ball and was also the player who brought calmness to his team when needed.

Henrik Tuseth from Røa is named Norway’s best player in the opening match. He was Norway’s most dangerous player, playing aggressively against the Finnish defense every time he challenged, even though he didn’t succeed in his finishing.
